Victim Advocate Service

Purpose & Overview

The Victim Advocate Unit assists victims of crime and next-of-kin in applying for services provided by the Victims of Crime Act. Victim advocates are professionals trained to support victims of crime.  Advocates offer victims:

  • Information about benefits
  • Providing emotional support
  • Assistance in locating resources
  • Assist in preparing and submitting the application to receive benefits, services and acquiring the necessary reports, receipts and invoices to accompany the application
  • Providing transportation to court-related activities
  • Coordinating direct benefit payments for funeral services

Service Process

If you are a victim of crime, our victim advocates will assist you in applying for benefits and services available through the State of Florida’s Bureau of Victim Compensation. If qualified, the advocate will assist in acquiring receipts and invoices to submit for reimbursement.
