As often as they are able to but they are required to train at least once a week.
No, they are trained to follow the command of their master, (the handler). They are very loving and you can ask the handler permission to pet them.
The training begins when the canine is a puppy and it usually takes up to a year, when they are considered an adult canine, to be fully trained.
Our canines are often German Shepard or Belgian Malinois and are sometimes donated by citizens and/ business owners or purchased directly by the Department.
