To obtain a copy of an accident report, you must be listed as the driver, passenger, property owner, representative or owner of vehicle (providing proof). Accident reports are public records sixty (60) days after occurrence.

You can request a copy of a report by sending a written request along with the fee of the report and a self-addressed stamped envelope. Certified copies of public reports can be obtained at a cost of $1.00 per page and non-certified copies at a cost of $.15 per page. For certain incident reports you may need to send additional documents (copy of driver’s license, birth certificate etc.) Please call 305-474-1413 to verify if additional documents are needed.

Reports are normally available 7-10 business from the time the report is written. However, in the event that the report is being investigated the obtainability may be delayed.
Reports can be picked up from the Records Unit located at 18611 NW 27th Ave, Miami Gardens, Florida 33056. Hours of operations are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. Closed on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Holidays.
The Records Unit accepts red light camera payments, alarm registration, conducts fingerprinting (by appointment only) and conducts local background checks for residents only. Please call 305-474-1413 for details.
