    Assistant City Attorneys assist the City Attorney in providing legal advice, support and direction to the City Council and the City staff in their capacity of performing official City duties.

    Ms. Samaroo joined the City of Miami Gardens as an Assistant City Attorney in February of 2019.  She is a Florida Bar Board Certified Specialist in City, County and Local Government Law. She previously served as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Opa-locka and the City of North Miami Beach, after several years as a North Miami Beach Special Magistrate. Her other government experience includes tenures at the Orange County Public Defender’s Office, the Broward County State Attorney’s Office and the State of Florida Attorney General’s Office. Additionally, during the height of the foreclosure crisis she was appointed as the sole General Magistrate handling foreclosure matters in the 11th Judicial Circuit.

    Ms. Samaroo was also an Adjunct Professor at Barry University where she taught Labor Relations and Employment Law. She served as President of the Wilkie D. Ferguson, Jr. Bar Association, on the Young Lawyers Division Board of Governors and on the Legal Services of Greater Miami Board of Directors. She attended Emory University and Barry University for undergraduate and received her Juris Doctorate from the Florida State University College of Law. Ms. Samaroo is licensed to practice in the State of Florida, the District of Columbia, the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
