Auto Theft / Economic Crimes Unit

The Auto Theft/Economic Crimes Unit is comprised of a sergeant and six investigators. The investigators assigned to Auto Theft investigate cases involving motor vehicle theft. These investigators work jointly with local, State and Federal Law Enforcement partners in combating vehicle theft. The detectives are trained in identifying stolen vehicles, fraudulent vehicle titles and illegal registration forms. They utilize such theft protection devices as Lojack to recover stolen vehicles. The investigators assigned to Economic Crimes investigates economic fraud cases and identity theft. These investigators participate with local, State and Federal Law Enforcement task forces to curb economic fraud cases and bring about arrests culminating in successful prosecutions.

Objective

The Unit’s objective is to reduce the number of auto thefts and occurrences of economic fraud related crimes.
