Property & Evidence Unit


The Property & Evidence Unit is an operation that secures and stores all items of evidence, as well as found and abandoned property recovered by Miami Gardens Police personnel. The Unit must accurately account for all items stored, and ensure the availability of those items for evidence in court and for their proper return to the lawful owners. Safeguards are in place to ensure that all incoming property and evidence is processed in accordance with State laws, City ordinances and Departmental policies/procedures.


The objective of the Unit is to establish and maintain a system of control over property and evidence as well as to insure continuity and consistency in the safekeeping of property and evidence to meet the requirements of the judicial system.

1. What are the hours of operation?
The hours of operation are Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Unit is closed on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and holidays.

2. Where do I pick up my property?
You can pick up your property by setting an appointment with the Property and Evidence Unit located at 18611 NW 27 Avenue, Miami Gardens, FL 33056

3. When can I pick up my property?
The Unit is open to the public Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday. – 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. You can call for an appointment at 305-474-1459.

4. Can a friend or relative pick up my property?
A friend or relative must have a notarized Power of Attorney, authorizing them to pick up your property. If the property is to be released as the result of a court order, the court order should indicate who has power of attorney.

5. What do I need to retrieve my property?
You will need a valid picture Identification with correct address, Case number, court order, if applicable, proof of ownership i.e. bill of sale, notarized bill of sale if item purchased from a private individual.
